About the Sensorimotor Neuroscience Laboratory:
Members of our laboratory and I are primarily interested in studying (1) timing and rhythmic actions (2) visual and auditory guidance of action (3) Posture, Balance and the control of unstable objects (4) Music and synchronization and (5) Dynamics of Cognition. This research borrows from principles of complex systems, where the behavior of a system of many components is significantly different, yet simpler than the behavior of the components themselves.
Our research uses theoretical and experimental studies, computational modeling, psychophysics, neuropsychological tests, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and non-invasive brain imaging to examine the basis of human perception, action and cognition.
Facilities & Methods.
In our lab, we use a variety of techniques and instruments. Most notable among them are 1) Vicon 3D Motion capture systems with integrated AMTI force plates 2) Magstim TMS and VISOR (TM) image-guided stereotaxic system and 3) ASA-Labs TMS compatible 32 channel EEG system and 4) KINARM exoskeleton bimanual robotic system 5) integrated EyeLink 1000 for eye-tracking.
